Gord and Gail Konantz have just returned from taking a group on a 9 day trek to Chomolhari Base Camp in western Bhutan. The trek was interrupted at base camp with an overnight 5cm snowfall and the high passes on our route ahead were blocked.

Following an extra day of waiting for the weather to clear we retraced our steps to the sunny village of Paro. We then travelled by coach to the capital town of Thimpu (pop.30,000) and on to the sub tropical valley of Punakha with it¹s famous dzong built in 1635.
