Since the early 60's the Foundation has built schools, bridges, hospitals and clinics, and has planted more than one million seedlings in the Khumbu.

Administered by volunteer help, this organization has built schools and drinking water systems since 1974 in the remote south-east region of Nepal.

Foster Parents Plan, a member of PLAN International, has been working in Nepal since 1978. As with all countries where they work, they know that to help a child in a lasting way, they must also help his or her family and the local community to become self-sufficient.

Through child sponsorship, they work with families and communities for as long as it takes to strengthen their capacity to provide their children with stability, protection and security in a way that is sustainable. Sponsorship contributions are not given directly to the Foster Children. Instead, they are used to strengthen community development, benefiting the child, family and entire community.

Foster Parents Plan programs encompass all components of a child's well-being, including health, education, habitat, family income generation and the very special aspects of cross-cultural learning and relationships.

Foster Parents Plan works in the regions of Rautahat, Makwanpur (south west of Kathmandu), Banke (on the Indian border), Dharan, Sunsari/Morang and Sallyan. Projects in these areas range from building health clinics to teaching children and adults to read and write to training communities members in improved agricultural techniques.

With the completion of the school building in 2004, we now fund the salary for one additional teacher. The balance of salaries is covered by the government of Nepal.
