Seva Canada Suite 100 - 2000 West 12th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6J 2G2 Seva's overall goal is to save and restore sight through locally run programs in the Himalaya. They are supported with matching grants from CIDA.
Trans Himalayan Aid Society (TRAS) TRAS was founded in 1962 by George Woodcock to help the Tibetan refugees. Over the past 40 years, we have been active in community projects and child sponsorship and have expanded to assist all peoples of the Trans-Himalayan region. Currently we have projects in Tibet, Nepal and India featuring sanitation, conservation, immunization, basic education, literacy for women and vocational training. Our individual child sponsorship program has enabled many children to have a secure upbringing and education. Some of these children are now adults and in a position to provide help themselves. For example, Dorje Namgyal, who was a TRAS sponsored child, is the founder and current principal of the Buddha Memorial Children's Home in Kathmandu, Nepal. |
