Trek Grade: Very Strenuous

14 days trekking in the Khumbu and the Sagarmatha National Park. The Khumbu is the home of the Sherpa, Mt. Everest and four of ten of the highest mountains in the world. Our base is Namche Bazar (11,300').
We fly to the airstrip at Lukla, 9,300', to begin our trek into the Khumbu. We rest at Namche for 2 days before trekking into the high Khumbu. At Dingboche, 14,300', a small Sherpa settlement at the base of Lhotse, we rest again before making our final climb to Base Camp. From here the route takes us to the tiny settlements of Dughla and Lobuche which lie alongside the enormous Khumbu glacier. From our final campsite at Gorak Shep we climb Kala Pattar (18,300') for a spectacular mountain panorama of Everest, Nuptse, Pumori and Ama Dablam.
Travel to and from the Khumbu is by Twin Otter aircraft.
